Main Task Genre Research:
Daniel's resarch on the Action genre:
My group includes: Nile and Naithan
An Action scene can be exciting as there are a lot of fast cuts and editing and overall just lot to shoot a free running scene will be very hard as we need to think about where we could set the scene and the storyline.
My idea is to shoot the first few minutes of a free running scene and I have been inspired by these three movies:James Bond Casino Royale
District 13
Group members: Daniel and Nathan
I've been researching the Rom-Com film genre; the movies I've been looking at are the following:
Friends With Benefits (2011)
Just Go With It (2011)
She's Out Of My League
Crazy Stupid Love (2011)
This movie, I found quite interesting, because of the part in the trailer when Steve Carell (Cal Weaver) is putting on his suit in steps, the screen fades out and maybe I could use this to put the credits in effectively. I could have a scene of the actor picking up his tie then fade out to the actor's name (Nile Williams) then have the actor pick up his blazer and then fade out again to another part of the credits and so on.

Nathan's research on the party genre (party was one of the genres we were going to pick as a group
A party scene, coming of age is another idea [Written by Nathan]
My idea is to shoot the first 2 minutes of our main task incorporating ideas used in the examples below. For example point of view shots, blurry camera shots, shaky camera, flashes, smoky atmosphere, shaky camera and many more.
Examples include:
Misfits Season 4 Episode 6
Etta Bond's: Resolve (Music Video): http://sbtv.co.uk/2013/01/etta-bond-resolve-music-video/

Places to film?
Victoria Park...
Victoria Park may be a good place to film our scene because of the environment. The park could make the whole scene more real because of all the diegetic sound. People wallking through, bird noises and birds flying.
Finsbury Park.
We are thinking about filming the park scene in this park because of it's wide spaces, long paths and because it's a nicer area than hackney to film.
Clissold Park
Clissold park seems like a good choice because there are loads of spaces good for running and it's equipped with obstacles and things for Ryan (Daniel Anthony) to overcome because he (as a character) is agile and fit.
Mr and Mrs Smith
Mr and Mrs Smith's title sequence influenced ours because we have a fade out moment in the opening two minutes of our film and when the screen is completely black, the title: Starring Daniel Anthony (Ryan Lawson). In Mr and Mrs Smith, the screen cuts to black and the titles appear and that is what influenced our work
Enemy of The State
I watched Enemy of the State over the Easter holidays and, noting that it is of the Action/Thriller genre, took note of how the titles were laid out and merged into the film.
I noticed that most of the titles in the film were shown whilst the scene is being shown, it wasn't shown in contrast to a black screen, it was shown in the scene.
I integrated those ideas into our film and the result wasn't too good as most of the shots in our film are quite dark and we didn't want the font colour to be white so we decided to fade-to-black and then show the titles. For example:
The video below is an example of how we faded-to-black whilst the film and the sound-bridge was still intact. It proved to work very well as conventional action thriller films have the fade-to-black scenes such as: Mr and Mrs Smith and GI.Joe.
Also, the titles at the beginning that are integrated in like a typewriter, the location and the time, I integrated into our film. We couldn't figure out how to make it look like a typewriter but we did the best we could to make it seem like it was being typed in. The "Clissold Park, London 4:35pm" part of our film added to the whole action/thriller genre and also it gives the impressiion that this film has something to do with the government.
Survey
As a group we couldn't decide on whether we wanted to do a:
- Rom-Com
- Action
- Coming of age/Party
We then put their results together as a whole:
So our Movie has now become an Action/Thriller as we saw that as being more exciting for the audience.

Shot List:
Our main task and it's progress over the months we have been working on perfecting it.
Our progress:
Friday 8th February
Location: Clissold Park Stoke Newington
I filmed long shots of Daniel running past the camera which you see in the film. We also filmed the panning down establishing sahot at the beginning which we kept in the final cut.
Wednesday 13th February
Location: Clissold Park Stoke Newington
I wasriding a bike to film shots of Daniel's feet at the beginning of our film to show that Daniel's character was actually moving. We also done the shaky cam point of view shot. Daniel was holding the camera and looking at me as he ran past. Tracking shots of the feet were the main shots we tried to get in.
Friday 15th February
Loction: Stamford Hill
I filmed Daniel running inside the house doing the match on action through both sets of doors and running up the stairs to the flat. While inside we filmed Daniel's dialogue using the pag lights that we brought with us. We filmed the knocking of the hand on the door and Daniel's reaction shot when opening the door. We left out the establishing shot of the block of flats as we thought that it wasn't needed in the final cut. At first we had the sister of Ryan involved, but as the sound quality was bad and it took the attention away from Ryan, we took her out in the final cut and instead just had Ryan calling for her. The director (Daniel) decided to have the villain/chaser remain anonymous as it created suspense in the movie typical to the conventions of an Action Thriller.
